"Due Diligence Done Well" Resource
Grantmakers for Effective Organizations’ most frequently downloaded publication has been updated and rereleased. Due Diligence Done Well: A Guide for Grantmakers, written by La Piana Consulting, is based on the 2004 publication on the same topic with updated learning about effective due diligence. The publication is a practical guide for the process of gathering information about prospective grantees and an orientation to thinking about effective due diligence, and an online tool for grantmakers accompanies this new version.
Featuring guidelines, tips and research questions, the guide underlines the value of a streamlined approach to due diligence that balances a grantmaker’s information needs with the added burden on the grantee. The new online tool gives an overview of the thinking and purpose of due diligence and provides a detailed account on the different steps in the due diligence process.
GEO is making the guide publicly available as a PDF download on the GEO Web site, at www.geofunders.org. The accompanying tool is available online to GEO members only. We encourage you to share information about this new release with your members and constituencies in your newsletter and on your Web site.
